Both sons, today managing directors of the company, appreciated their father especially as he gave them freedom to reorganise the company which produces and deals with electric heating elements for the industry and household appliances: "You let us go ways which have been completely different from yours. [read more]
[read more]
[read more]
[read more]
21.06.07 The series "Last minute apprenticeship" ended successfully. Many young people applied for the presented apprenticeships. Freek hired two of them. David Pelka is happy. Since yesterday he officially has an apprenticeship at Freek. During the past five weeks the WESTFALENPOST presented nine Menden-based companies which have been looking for trainees for this year. The response to this series has been huge. For David Pelka begins the serious part of life on 1. August. "I had written so many applications before I read the article in the WESTFALENPOST", says the 17-year-old, who has just passed the final exams at the "Hauptschule Bösperde". [read more]
09.05.07 Milling, filing and drilling – these tasks are part of the trainee's daily work. Understanding the process counts more than a good school report. No matter if in heating fans, in tumble dryers or in the plastics and packaging industry – Freek's electrical heating elements can be found in a variety of fields. One element is often not bigger than half a biro, however, inside the miniature coil it's the little things that cause big problems. The single parts have to be assembled and processed with great care. Apart from Freek, there are only a handful of competitors who produce heating elements in such small dimensions. [read more]
07.05.07 "We are bursting at the seams", states Wolfgang Kaiser, managing director of Friedrich Freek GmbH. "We need more capacity, after all every company should keep something in reserve for orders at short notice." Efforts to rent free areas in the company's neighbourhood in Menden failed. Therefore the Germany-based company decided to extend on their own site. [read more]
März 2007 Appropriate structures allow production of simple products in Germany. The current discussion about safeguarding jobs in Germany focuses high-tech-products; simple standard products (e. g. products in the sectors metal manufacturing and processing, paper and printing industry) are, according to the common perception, not producible at reasonable costs and will be shifted into low cost countries sooner or later. However, the example of Friedr. Freek GmbH shows that producing simple products can have a future even in Germany if the according organisational and personnel structures exist. [read more]
